With the rising crime rate in our city it is important to have the right alarm system fitted to you home to protect your family and your possessions. Most break ins are committed by opportunist thieves but there are a rising number of targeted break ins, as thieves target you car keys so they can steal your car.
INTRUDER ALARMS Visible intruder alarms make thieves think again.
There are many systems on the market, ranging from cheaper DIY alarms to more sophisticated alarm systems costing hundreds of pounds. Easily installable ‘wire-free’ alarms are now available whereby sensors fitted around the house transmit radio signals to the alarm control panel. These systems usually take half a day to fit. Wired alarms are cheaper but take longer roughly around a day to install. Remember, a badly-fitted alarm can cause problems in itself.
Don’t install a DIY system unless you have the electrical knowledge and technical skill to do so. If in doubt consult a specialist alarm installer.
SECURITY LIGHTING Good security lighting can deter a potential thief.
Some out door lights have a passive infra-red sensor that switches the light on for a few moments when it detects some body in its range. Sensors can be bought separately to convert an existing outdoor light into a security one. Out door security lights are designed only to come on at night, they have a built in sensor called a dusk till dawn sensor that allows the unit to stay switched of during the day to save using excess power.
